Being a Camp Aide is an important leadership responsibility. CAs are expected to attend required training, participate fully during the camp week, and be ready to jump in wherever help is needed.

CA Training
Date: TBD
Required for ALL CAs, regardless of prior CA experience.
This training will cover the information and skills CAs need to be successful at Lilburn Day Camp.
Experienced CAs who are interested in helping plan or lead parts of the training are encouraged to contact the CA Coordinators!
Have a conflict with the training date? Please contact the CA Coordinators as soon as possible.
Onsite Training
Saturday, TBD
MANDATORY
Onsite Training is an important part of getting ready for camp. This is when CAs will:
- Meet their unit leaders
- Meet other CAs in their unit
- Plan activities for the week
- Prepare for their specific camp responsibilities
- Receive their Secret CA Assignments 👀
While training dates are required, we understand that this is a busy time of year with school, sports, and other commitments. If you have a conflict, please email the CA Coordinators as soon as you know you cannot attend.
Every effort will be made to work with CAs who have conflicts; however, failure to communicate about an absence may affect your unit or placement assignment.
If you cannot attend Onsite Training, you must also notify your unit leaders as soon as CA assignments are released.
Community Service & Leadership Opportunities
CAs are encouraged to participate in these additional opportunities throughout the spring!
3rd Annual LDC Day of Service

Expectations During Camp
Daily Schedule
CAs arrive at 8:00 AM and leave at approximately 4:00 PM each day after CA Wrap-Up.
When You Arrive
CAs must sign in at the CA Table under the pavilion first and then immediately report to their unit to begin helping with camp setup.
CAs should be prepared to:
- Help Leaders and Staff unload vehicles
- Carry supplies and materials
- Set up canopies
- Set up unit areas
- Help with carpool
- Pitch in wherever help is needed
CAs should not be sitting around waiting for campers to arrive. Everyone has a job to do!
Show your excitement for camp by jumping in, helping others, and looking for ways to be useful.
CA Sign-In
On the first day of camp, CAs will receive their:
- Navy CA visor – must be worn each day
- Name tag – must be worn each day
- SWAP
- Pen
Camp shirts will be distributed with your unit when unit photos are taken.
Each day, a new SWAP will be available at the CA sign-in table.
Be sure to check the Band app regularly for announcements, reminders, and last-minute updates.
Cell Phone & Break Policy
Cell phones are not permitted during the camp day except when you are in the CA Tent.
The CA Tent is your designated downtime area. When you are in the CA Tent, you are considered “off duty” and do not need to be actively engaged with campers.
Each CA should coordinate with their unit leaders to receive a 15-minute break in the CA Tent each day.
Please remember: Outside of your scheduled break, CAs are expected to be actively involved with their unit and campers.
What to Bring
CAs should bring:
- Water bottle
- Lunch each day except Thursday
- Any personal items needed for the day
Thursday lunch will be provided for all CAs!
Leaving Camp Early
CAs are expected to work the entire camp day and entire camp week.
If you know you will need to leave early/arrive late for an appointment or another commitment, you must notify the CA Coordinators in advance so arrangements can be made for another CA to cover your unit.
CAs may not simply leave camp without notifying the CA Coordinators and making sure a floater is assigned to their unit.
CAs leaving early must:
- Notify the CA Coordinators in advance.
- Notify their unit leader.
- Sign out at the CA Table before leaving.
We strongly encourage CAs to avoid scheduling appointments during the camp week whenever possible.
Failure to communicate about an early departure or leaving camp without authorization may affect eligibility to serve as a CA in future years.
CA Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Morning CA Drop-Off
CA drop-off will be in the parking lot off Main Street, near the Woodworking stage.
Leaders park in the lot near the bathrooms, and camper carpool uses this area as well. To reduce congestion, CAs should be dropped off in the designated CA parking area.
Important!
CAs cannot be dropped off during morning camper carpool or picked up during afternoon camper carpool—even if they have younger siblings attending camp.
CAs have responsibilities before campers arrive and after campers depart.
Afternoon CA Pick-Up
CA pick-up may take place in the parking lot near the bathrooms after camper carpool is complete.
All CAs must complete CA Wrap-Up and sign out before leaving. This is a vital part of your day – if you miss these meeting you will miss important information about the week.
Leaving before CA wrap up meeting….
CAs with Younger Siblings at Camp
We know that some CAs may also have younger siblings attending Lilburn Day Camp. Whenever possible, we ask that:
CAs be dropped off separately at 8:00 AM, and younger siblings arrive during regular camper carpool.
If this is not possible because of a parent’s work schedule, an exception may be made.
Please indicate this during registration so we know how many siblings may need to be accommodated.
Morning Drop-Off with a Sibling
If a younger sibling must be dropped off with the CA:
- Everyone will check in at the CA Table under the pavilion.
- The CA will report to her unit to begin setup.
- The sibling will remain under the pavilion until camper carpool begins.
- The CA is not responsible for supervising the sibling and cannot stay with them.
- Parents should provide the sibling with a book, activity, or something quiet to do while waiting.
Please understand that the pavilion is a busy area during setup. Adult volunteers will be working nearby, and we do not have staff available to provide dedicated supervision for siblings during morning setup.
For this reason, regular camper carpool is strongly preferred.
Afternoon Pick-Up with a Sibling
Younger siblings may stay until 4:00 PM and participate in our Staff Kids program while waiting for their CA sibling to finish.
During registration, you must indicate that the camper is the sibling of a CA who needs Staff Kids for carpool.
At the end of the day:
- The sibling will participate in Staff Kids activities.
- The sibling will come to the pavilion during CA Wrap-Up.
- The CA and sibling will leave together after Wrap-Up.
- A parent must walk to the large pavilion to pick up the CA and sibling at 4:00 PM.
Please note that CAs cannot sign out or release their younger siblings themselves.
What We Expect from Our CAs
Being a CA means being part of the team.
We expect every CA to:
- Be dependable and prepared.
- Participate fully in training.
- Arrive on time and stay for the full day, including the CA wrap up meeting
- Be willing to help wherever needed.
- Treat campers, leaders, staff, and fellow CAs with respect.
- Be positive and encouraging.
- Stay actively involved with their unit.
- Follow all camp rules and safety expectations.
- Communicate with CA Directors and unit leaders when problems arise.
We don’t expect you to know everything—we expect you to ask questions, be willing to learn, and be ready to help.
Your attitude, energy, and willingness to pitch in can make a huge difference in a camper’s week.
